Description

The Woodhouse tomb, located 20 metres south of the Church of St. Andrew, was built in 1859 and is made of limestone ashlar and carrera marble. It commemorates William Henry Woodhouse of Irnham Hall and is designed in the Greek style. The tomb features a marble sarcophagus with lion's feet, resting on two steps; the lower step is decorated with paterae, scrolls, and acanthus motifs. The tomb chest is tall and has a moulded cornice and base, with marble inscription plates on its sides.
