Description
No 52 on Broad Street is a mid-18th century building located at the west end of the street, facing east. It is two storeys tall with attics, constructed in painted ashlar. The roof is hipped and covered with stone slates, featuring two cambered dormers. The windows are double-hung sashes with glazing bars, and there is a moulded wood eaves cornice. The building has block rusticated quoins and a moulded plinth. There are two large windows with moulded stone surrounds and triple keystones, also with double-hung sashes and glazing bars, although the ground floor has modern glazing bars. The central doorway, dating from the early 19th century, is adorned with fluted pilasters and paterae, topped by an open pediment and a rectangular fanlight with glazing bars. The building has one brick stack and one moulded stone stack. It shares the same premises as No 3 Crown Street. Nos 50 to 52 are part of a group.
