Description
The stable block at Christie Farmhouse dates from the late 18th century and has some 20th-century alterations. It is constructed of red brick with painted stone dressings and features slate roofs with brick coped gables and kneelers. The building has dentillated eaves, a weathervane, and a stack at the rear.
The design includes a two-storey slightly projecting bay, which is flanked by long, low single-storey ranges—three bays to the left and four bays to the right. The central bay contains a two-light casement window with a segmental head and keystone. To the right, there is a shuttered opening with an overlight and keystone, followed by a doorway with a sliding plank door. Further right are two shuttered openings with overlights, segmental heads, and keystones.
On the left side of the central bay, there is a doorway with sliding double plank doors, and a shuttered opening with a segmental head, overlight, and keystone, leading to another doorway with a sliding plank door. There is also a two-light casement window with a blind fanlight in a semi-circular head. The lower two bays attached to the left have a hipped roof and feature a doorway with a wooden lintel and sliding plank door, along with a shuttered opening to the left that has an overlight, segmental head, and keystone.
