Description
The Bull Public House is a public house located on Fleet Main Street in Fleet Hargate. It dates from the 17th century, with extensions from the 18th and early 19th centuries, and has undergone some alterations in the 20th century. The building is primarily constructed of brick, mostly covered in stucco and paint, and features a 20th-century tiled roof with a brick ridge stack. It is two storeys high and has a three-window range consisting of 8/8 sash windows and two paired 6/6 sash windows above four similar windows on the ground floor. There is a brick doorcase to the right and a single-storey section at the left end.
Inside, the public house has spine beams with quadrant chamfer and ogee stops. The first floor includes two rooms with 18th-century panelling, as well as an 18th-century staircase with turned balusters. Some doors are two-panel designs. A large stack remains at the centre left, although its flue has been truncated by the roof. This historic inn, despite alterations, retains original interior features.
