Description
The White Lion Public House is a late 18th-century building located on the east side of High Street. It stands three storeys tall, constructed of red brick, and features a moulded wooden eaves cornice along with wide stone bands separating the storeys. The façade includes three windows that have shaped stone lintels and fluted keystones, with hung sashes that contain glazing bars. The ground floor is painted and features a central elliptical coach arch with heavy rustication. To the left, there is one window similar to those above, and to the right, a doorway from the 19th century has been converted into a window, which is topped with a similar lintel and flanked by side lights, wood mullions, and a rectangular fanlight. The White Lion Public House, along with Nos 2 to 4, forms a cohesive group of buildings.
