Description
Yew Tree Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 16th century, with a refronting in the late 17th century, and further alterations in the early 19th and 20th centuries. Originally constructed with a timber frame, it is now built of red brick in Flemish bond and has a pantile roof featuring one coped brick tumbled gable and two gable stacks. The building is a single storey plus attics and has two storeys with a three-bay front, a chamfered plinth, and a gable band.
The left bay is slightly advanced and is single storey, featuring a two-light glazing bar sliding sash window with a brick segmental head. In the roof, there is a raking dormer with a two-light glazing bar sliding sash. To the right, there is a 20th-century porch, followed by a two-storey parlour block that was raised in the 19th century, which has a glazing bar sash window with a rubbed brick arch on each floor.
Inside, the rear wall plate of the original frame is visible, with two dowelled mortice holes for vanished wall posts. Other posts are preserved within the thickness of the walls, and above the left-hand fireplace, there is a chamfered bressumer. In the hall, a late 17th-century chamfered girder with ogee stops can be found.
