Description
Nos. 33 and 35 on West Street are two cottages dating from the late 18th century, with mid-19th century and 20th century alterations. They are timber framed and partially clad in brick, with the entire structure rendered and colourwashed. The cottages have a thatched roof featuring two gable stacks and a single ridge stack, along with a tall 20th century stack at the rear.
The building is single storey with an attic and has a five-bay front, plus a mid-19th century lean-to on the left. There is a rendered plinth at the base. The doorway is located to the right, featuring a plank door and flanked by two plain sash windows with margin lights, all three openings topped with segmental heads. The upper part of the two bays to the left is recessed, with a plank door to the left and a 20th century casement window beyond. The later 19th century lean-to on the left has a two-light sliding sash window. Additionally, there are three gabled dormers, with two three-light casements on the right and a single two-light casement on the left.
