Description
Rookery Farmhouse is a house built in the early 19th century, with alterations made in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring an ashlar plinth and a concrete tiled roof with raised stone coped gables and two gable stacks. The building has a parallel ranges plan and is three storeys high with a three-bay front that includes a plinth and a dogtooth eaves course.
The central entrance consists of a six-panelled door with a fanlight, surrounded by wood panelled reveals and a roll moulded wooden doorcase. This doorcase has console brackets that support a leaded triangular hood. On either side of the door are single margin light sash windows. The first floor features three similar windows, while the second floor has smaller glazing bar sashes. All windows are topped with cambered rubbed brick arched heads.
On the right side of the house, there are pairs of margin light sashes on each floor, along with a half-glazed door that has a bordered light. This door is sheltered by a wooden Gothick porch, which has pierced quatrefoil spandrels and a flat leaded hood. Inside, the farmhouse retains six-panelled doors and a dogleg stick baluster staircase with a wreathed hardwood handrail.
