Description
Church Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the early 16th century, with significant alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone rubble with ashlar dressings and features a pantiled roof with raised stone coped gables, along with two gable stacks and a single ridge stack. The building has two storeys and a five-bay front, plus garrets. The entrance is an off-centre 19th-century two-panelled door set in a plain wooden surround, topped by a narrow leaded hood. This door is flanked by single three-light windows, and to the left is a 20th-century door covered by a contemporary gabled extension. Beyond this is another three-light window. All the windows are three-light plain casements with timber lintels. Inside, the farmhouse retains only the jambs of a 16th-century moulded stone fire surround, and the roof, which is in its present form from the late 17th century, features staggered butt purlin construction, reusing the oak members from the original 16th-century roof.
