Description
The Cottage is a house dating to the 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, and has a slate roof with raised stone coped gables and a single ball finial. The building has single axial and gable stacks. Originally it comprised three rooms. The front of the house has an irregular three-bay arrangement. A centrally positioned 19th-century canted bay window features ovolo moulded mullions, fixed plain lights, and a hipped slate roof. The outline of a previously blocked window is visible to the right. A three-light window with ovolo moulded mullions and a moulded surround is located adjacent to the bay. Four 19th-century sash windows with glazing bars and timber lintels are on the first floor. The rear elevation retains further mullioned windows, some of which have been replaced in the 20th century. Inside, the house retains roughly hewn beams and a cased beam. A clasped purlin roof is also present.
