Description
No 6 Eastgate is a building that was originally three cottages, later converted into two, dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed in red brick, with an earlier core, and stands two storeys high. The façade features five windows with segmental arches and hung sashes that include glazing bars. On the ground floor, there are three windows along with a shop window that also has glazing bars, positioned beneath a cornice. The building has three brick stacks and a stone plinth that includes foot scrapers. High reeded wooden doorcases are present, although the door to what was formerly No 6 is now blocked. There is a Dutch door leading to the shop, and a blocked four-light mullioned window in the stone side wall of the former No 6. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 2 to 8 (even) and Carre's Hospital.
