Description

Number 23 Eastgate is an 18th-century building that stands two storeys high. The exterior is rendered, with coursed rubble on the sides, and features a pantile roof with stacks at the gable ends. It has two windows that are hung sashes with glazing bars, each with stone lintels and a keystone on the ground floor windows. The doorway also has a rectangular fanlight above it, although the door itself is modern. A foot scraper is present, and the building has stone rusticated quoins. A datestone indicates the year 1788. Number 23, along with numbers 23 to 29 (odd) and number 35, forms a group of buildings of architectural interest.
