Description

Nos 63 and 65 on Eastgate are a pair of cottages dated 1849. They are constructed of painted brick with an ashlar front and stand two storeys tall. Each storey features two-light windows with mullions and glazing bars, and there are moulded rectangular labels above the windows. The cottages have paired entrance doors that are framed by moulded stone architraves, with carved spandrels and labels that include elaborate stops. A gargoyle rainwater-head is present, along with a moulded cornice and capping at the gable ends, which are topped with stone finials. The cottages have modern doors and a plinth, and ornamented stone stacks are located at the gable ends. Nos 43 to 65 (odd) and Nos 1 to 6 (consecutive) on Kingston Terrace form a group with these cottages.
