Description
The Orchard Outbuilding at Somerton Castle is a Grade I listed structure dating from the 14th century. It is the base of a circular tower that was originally located at a corner of the castle walls. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and features a circular design with a central column and stone vaulting. Surrounding the central column are 12 arches, with corbels positioned between the ribs that support the vault. Additionally, there is a small projecting chamber to the south-west, which has a pointed barrel vault. This structure is recognized as an Ancient Monument.
