Description
Asgarby Hall is a house built in the late 17th century, which underwent alterations and was refronted in the early 19th century in the Tudor style. A porch was added in 1873. The building features red brick that has been rendered, with the right-hand gable made of coursed limestone rubble and ashlar quoins from the 17th century. A chamfered plinth is visible beneath the render on that side. The render has a coarse texture, and the stucco rusticated quoins are dressed with flint chips.
The house has a hipped slate roof with two wall stacks and is designed in an L-plan. It is two storeys plus attics, with a three-bay front that includes a plinth, rusticated quoins, a first-floor cill band, diaper stucco eaves dressings, and paired wooden brackets at the gables. The central entrance features a half-glazed panelled door with a traceried Tudor arched head, which is sheltered by a gabled yellow brick porch. This porch has turned wooden balusters supporting a sprocketed gabled roof with openwork timbers and a finial.
On either side of the entrance are single canted bays with tall glazing bar windows; the central bays contain French doors and hipped slate roofs. The first floor has a central window in a pointed surround, flanked by single two-light glazing bar casements in rectangular surrounds. All windows have Tudor arched heads and matching tracery. The roof includes two hipped dormers, each with two fixed paired lights and slate hung cheeks. Inside, the hall features Tudor arched doorways.
