Description
Boughton House is a late 18th-century house altered in the mid-19th century. The house is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with limestone ashlar dressings, and a slate roof with raised stone coped gables, topped by two gable stacks. It is three storeys high and has a three-bay front with a plinth, first and second floor cill bands, rusticated quoins, a cyma moulded eaves band, and a plain parapet. The central entrance features a six-panelled double door, raised up four limestone ashlar steps and topped with a traceried fanlight. The door is sheltered by a wooden porch supported on Doric columns with moulded limestone ashlar bases, and a plain entablature. Flanking the main entrance are single two-storey canted bays, each containing a central glazing bar sash window on both floors, with hipped slate roofs. The first floor has a single central glazing bar sash window, and the second floor has three smaller, similarly styled windows. All windows have splayed limestone ashlar lintels.
