Description

Beever Cottage and Bones Cottage are a pair of houses located in Kirkby la Thorpe. The core of the building dates to the early 17th century, with alterations made in the early 19th century and the 20th century. The houses are constructed from coursed limestone rubble with ashlar quoins and dressings; some sections showcase red brick in an English garden bond. The roof is covered with concrete tiles, and the gables are topped with raised brick copings.

The houses are a single storey with an attic, featuring a four-bay front. An off-centre glazed door is framed by a roll-moulded ashlar surround with chamfered stops. To the right of the door is a single-light casement window with a segmental yellow brick head. To the left are two plain, two-light casement windows, also with segmental yellow brick heads. Four gabled dormers are visible in the roof, each containing a two-light casement with cusped bargeboards, finials, and boarded cheeks. A single-bay red brick addition to the right contains a small, square fixed light.

Inside, original features remain, including an unstopped chamfered girder.
