Description
Stones Place is a house that has been converted into an old people's home. It was built in 1812 and underwent alterations in the mid-19th century, with significant additions made in the mid-20th century. The building is constructed of yellow brick and features a hipped slate roof, with the original stacks removed. It has bracketed eaves and windows that have rubbed brick heads. The house is two storeys tall and has three bays. The front façade has a slightly projecting centre that includes a mid-19th century gabled porch with an impost band, a fielded six-panel door, a fanlight, and a round-headed window on each side. There are also single round-headed French windows beyond this porch. Above, there are three plain sash windows.
Inside, the property features a dogleg stair with a winder, stick balusters, and a ramped and scrolled handrail. The principal rooms have moulded cornices, and the lounge is highlighted by an enriched Classical fireplace with consoles.
