Description
The Church of St Lawrence is a parish church that dates back to the 13th century and was rebuilt in 1855 in the Early English style by R C Hussey. The church features a tower, a four-bay nave with north and south aisles, a south porch, and a chancel. It is constructed of coursed rubble with ashlar dressings. The roof is covered with plain tiles and has eastern coped gables topped with finials. The lower stages of the tower include medieval masonry and are supported by clasping buttresses. The bell stage has an opening on each face, featuring two-light windows with geometric tracery. Above, there are machicolations, gargoyles, and battlements. The aisles have simple two-light windows with plate tracery and drip hood moulds, while the eastern window consists of three lancets. The church also has a gabled porch and a 20th-century shallow pitched nave roof with a rendered clerestory.
