Description
Pottergate Lodge, along with its adjoining boundary wall, railing, and gatepiers, is a house built in the late 18th century and mid 19th century. It features dressed stone with a rendered front and brick additions, topped with a hipped and gabled pantile roof and two stacks. The building is two storeys high and has four bays, with a first-floor band. The windows are mainly glazing bar sashes. The central entrance has a wooden doorcase with pilasters and a part-glazed panelled door, flanked on the left by a sash window and on the right by a canted bay window with plain sashes. Above the entrance, there are four 12-pane sashes. To the left, there is a set-back lean-to addition that is also two storeys high, featuring a smaller sash window on each floor.
The exterior includes a curved boundary wall made of coursed squared stone with slab coping, approximately 15 meters long. To the left of the lodge, there is a lower section of the wall, also about 15 meters long, which is topped with spearhead railings. At the left end of this section, there are a pair of square ashlar gatepiers with shallow moulded square caps. The interior has not been inspected.
