Description

Nos. 49 and 51, along with the adjoining warehouse, form a shop, house, and attached warehouse that has been converted into a single dwelling with a warehouse. The building dates from the early 18th century, with alterations made in 1842 and the 20th century. It is constructed of red brick and features a pantile roof with decorative eaves, stone coped gables with kneelers, and a stone coped gable on the warehouse roof, along with single ridge stacks.

The structure is three storeys high and has a nine-bay front, which includes a four-bay warehouse to the right and a first-floor band that spans all nine bays. To the left, there is a doorway with a segmental head and a 20th-century partially glazed door. To the right, an early 19th-century canted shop window features a central cross mullion window, single flanking lights, and an entablature. Beyond this, there is a plain sash window with a segmental head, followed by another doorway with a segmental head and a panelled door.

Further along, there are two glazing bar sashes with segmental heads, and two blind openings with segmental heads to the right, one of which has a small shuttered opening inserted. There is a blocked doorway to the right with a blind opening beyond, both featuring segmental heads. Above, to the left, are two plain sashes, while to the right, there is a single glazing bar sash. Beyond this, there is another doorway with a plank door and two shuttered openings to the right, along with two plain sashes above to the left and a single glazing bar sash to the right, which has three shuttered openings beyond. All openings on the first and second floors have segmental heads.
