7/28 Oxcombe House with attached wall and gazebo

Small country house with attached wall and gazebo. 1845, probably by W. A. Nicholson. Stock brick with limestone ashlar dressings, some red brick. Slate roofs with stone coped gables and kneelers; 2 gable and single ridge stacks, with 2 ridge stacks and single gable stack to rear. T-plan. 2 storey with attic in rear range. 6 irregular bay south front with slightly projecting central bay defined by brick and ashlar buttress shafts crowned by panelled octagonal turrets. First floor ashlar band. Central doorway with triangular head, moulded ashlar surround and inner partially glazed door. Doorway with 2 cross mullion windows with rectangular hood moulds, to right. Beyond projects a canted mullion and transom bay window. A similar window to the left of porch. Central canted mullion and transom oriel window above flanked by 2 cross mullion windows on each side, with hood moulds. 3 red brick gablettes above, that over the central window with finial. Canted bay window beyond to right, with mullions and transom. All the windows with plain sashes. Garden wall runs from rear range of house, westwards to octagonal gazebo with flat roof and moulded brick parapet. Doorway with panelled door on first floor level with flight of steps allowing access, to east. 2 small casements to west and north. All the openings with segmental heads.
