Description
Tetford Mill is a water mill and attached mill house located on Tetford Mill Lane. It dates from the late 18th century but has an earlier core. The building is constructed of brick and features earlier pantile roofs, along with a single ridge stack.
The main front has a symmetrical house on the right, which includes a central doorway with a 20th-century panel door and a narrow overlight beneath a segmental head. On either side of the doorway are single two-light sliding sash windows, and above these are two similar windows, all set under segmental heads. To the left, there is a single bay with a 20th-century three-light casement window on each floor.
Beyond the house is the mill itself, which has a half-hipped roof and dentilated brick eaves. On the right side of the mill, there is a plank door under a segmental head, and to the left is a small two-light window. Further left is a large segmental opening with plank doors that leads to the water wheel. Above this opening is a plank loft door, and to the left, there is another two-light sliding sash window.
Inside, the water wheel, which dates back to the mid-17th century, remains intact along with all the machinery used for milling corn, although much of the timber has been renewed.
