Description
The Mansion House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, which was remodelled in the mid-19th century. It is constructed of red brick with some limestone ashlar and features a 19th-century slate roof with overhanging eaves and gable stacks. The north front has two storeys and five bays, with a plinth and a first-floor band. The central 19th-century doorway is flanked by fluted half columns and has an entablature with triglyphs and guttae, an overlight, and a fielded panelled door. On either side of the doorway are two glazing bar sashes, with five additional glazing bar sashes above, all featuring 19th-century rusticated ashlar wedge lintels with raised keystones. To the right is a low projecting 19th-century range that is of no particular interest. The south front also has five bays and includes a 19th-century portico supported by four fluted Doric columns. The doorway here is flanked by single narrow lights and has a panelled door. The portico is flanked by two glazing bar sashes on each side, with five more above, all with 19th-century rusticated ashlar wedge lintels with raised keystones.
