Description
The stable block at Manor Farm, built in 1904, incorporates a 16th-century stone arch from a former gatehouse. It features a red brick structure with ashlar detailing and a slate roof, arranged in an L-plan. The building is single storey with a four-bay front, where the left bay is advanced and gabled. A planked doorway is flanked by single openings that contain cast iron ventilation panels with overlights. The gable displays a deeply moulded Tudor archway, which has a large Wild Man corbel at the top and quoined reveals. Above the archway is a datestone marked 1904. This archway originally belonged to the gatehouse of the mansion associated with the Willoughby d'Eresby family, whose emblem is the Wild Man.
