Description

The pigeoncote at Thorpe Hall dates from the 17th century and has 19th-century alterations. It is constructed of brown brick in English bond with ashlar foundations. The building features a steeply pitched pantile roof with bargeboard and fascia. It is a single-storey structure with a two-bay front, showcasing planked openings that have moulded timber surrounds. On the right-hand gable end, there is a repositioned square ashlar panel displaying the arms of the Bolle family, set within a cusped surround. Above this panel is a 19th-century gabled wooden landing box with bird arches at three levels. The interior still retains brick bird boxes.
