Description

The Manor House is a house that has been converted into an administration block. It dates from the mid-18th century and was remodelled in the early and mid-19th century. The building is constructed of pink, cream, red, and burnt brick and features a mid-19th century slate roof with dentillated eaves and brick gable stacks. It has two storeys and a south-facing bay front with a central doorway. This doorway has a pilastered doorcase with an open pediment, a traceried fanlight, and a partially glazed, fielded panelled door. On either side of the doorway are two early 19th-century glazing bar sash windows, with additional sash windows above. All windows are framed with early 19th-century brick architraves.

Inside, the original layout of the house remains largely intact, preserving many original features. These include a principal turned baluster dog-legged staircase with moulded handrails, panelled reveals around the sash windows, and doors with two, four, and six panels that are raised and fielded, some equipped with L-shaped strap hinges. There is a built-in panelled cupboard in the main left-hand ground floor reception room, featuring raised and fielded panelled doors, fluted pilasters, and a decorative frieze. The basement includes an 18th-century hearth with a contemporary range, and there is a late 18th-century cast-iron hob grate on the first floor. The roof structure consists of contemporary pegged collar and tie beam trusses with single purlins and rafters, along with some supplementary 20th-century timbers.
