Description

Cowbridge Footbridge is a narrow, single-span bridge made of cast iron and gritstone, dating from 1811. The bridge features ramped access and plain vertical railings. On both sides of the supporting girder, it is stamped with "CAST AT BUTTERLEY 1811." The balustrade extends a short distance along each bank. At each end of the span, there are pairs of ashlared gritstone piers topped with pyramidal shapes and moulded panels on three faces, with another pair of piers marking the ends of the balustrades.
