Description

These are a pair of gates and gate piers dating from the early 19th century, made of cast iron by Tuxford and Sons of Boston. The gates feature circular designs on the upper and lower rails, tulip-shaped tops, and elongated vertical bars that are constricted. The hollow piers have latticed sides and are topped with anthemion motifs. This pair is one of two sets of identical gates.
