Description
The Magnet Tavern is an 18th-century public house, altered in the 20th century. It is constructed of red/brown brick with rendered sections, and has a plain tiled roof with brick coped gables and two gable stacks, one of which has been reduced.
The two-storey building has a five-bay front, featuring a rendered plinth, a first-floor band, and a wooden dentilled eaves cornice. A central door is set within a pilastered surround with a small cornice, and is flanked by pairs of glazing bar sashes. The right-hand sash and adjacent brickwork represent a 20th-century restoration to the original appearance. Five glazing bar sashes are located on the first floor, all with brick segmental heads. The roof has three dormer windows with divided sashes and lead segmental heads. A rendered roadside elevation features two 20th-century tap room windows on the ground floor, and a sash window on the first floor. The interior was not inspected.
