Description
The King's Arms is a public house built around 1820. It features red brick construction with painted stucco dressings, coped gables, and a pantile roof, topped with two gable stacks. The exterior is two storeys high with a three-bay front. The entrance includes a half-glazed door with a four-pane overlight, framed by Greek Doric half-columns, a plain frieze, and a cornice. The door is flanked by tripartite glazing bar sashes with broad segmental arches. On the first floor, there are three glazing bar sashes with splayed stucco lintels, and all windows are adorned with keystones. Additional features include a bootscraper and a decorative sign bracket. The inn first appeared in the license list in 1825 and was likely built to serve the barges using the Maud Foster drain. The interior has not been inspected.
