Description
No. 10 Newgate End is a farmhouse built in 1691, although it likely has 18th-century windows and alterations to the roof pitch from the late 18th or early 19th century. The building is constructed of brick on a granite plinth and features a Welsh slate roof. It has three stories and three bays, with a central door set in a recent wooden porch that has a date stone above it. The windows on either side of the door are three-light casements with transoms. The upper two floors also have similar windows, all featuring cambered brick heads. These windows appear to be of a later date, with traces of earlier openings visible in the brickwork. The farmhouse has gable and axial stacks. Inside, a 17th-century staircase remains, showcasing a plain newel and balusters with tight twisted decoration that resembles strings of beads.
