Description
The headstone to Francis Doleman, who died in 1702 at the age of 4, is located approximately 12 metres south of the Church of St Mary and St Hardulph in Breedon-on-the-Hill. It is made of Swithland slate and features an elaborately carved back with the initials FD. The stone is inscribed with the following verse:
'Like Birds of prey
Death snatcht away,
This harmless Dove.
Whose soul so pure,
Is now secure
In Heaven above.'
