Description
The building at 24 and 26 Market Street dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. It is constructed of red brick with wide eaves and a slate roof, featuring coped gable ends. The building is three storeys high and has three windows. Most of the windows are sash windows with glazing bars, with the exception of one unbarred sash and one early 19th century style casement window on the first floor. The windows have flat-gauged red brick arches, while those on the first floor have round arches with impost bands (the windows themselves being square-headed). Modern shop fronts are present, and a passageway is located on the west side of Hammonds.
