Description
Measham Baptist Church is a chapel built in 1841. It is constructed of red brick in Flemish bond, featuring a stone pediment cornice, a stone sill band on the first floor at the front, and stone sills. The sides have a brick eaves cornice and gauged brick round arched lintels. The roof is slate. The building has two storeys with three small-paned round arched windows, and the gable end forms a large pediment above. The central door, which was formerly a window, has two leaves and a large overlight with a curved upper part and a segmental arch above. On either side of the door are windows with round arched heads and stucco sills that replaced two former doors. The left side has three windows, and the right side has four, with the upper right window blocked and a 20th-century door and window beneath it. There is a 19th-century extension at the rear, which is of lesser interest. Inside, there is a gallery on three sides supported by slender iron columns, with a later addition on the fourth side. The box pews may have been altered. A date tablet in the pediment indicates that it is the Baptist Chapel built in 1841.
