Description

Fleming's Bridge is a pedestrian bridge over the River Devon, built in the early 17th century for Samuel Fleming, who was rector from 1581 to 1620. The bridge is constructed of ironstone with limestone dressings and is designed in a medieval style. It features two semi-circular arches supported by four chamfered ribs that meet at a central cutwater. The retaining wall on the north side is straight, while the south side retains a circular bastion from the 17th century. The parapet rises to a peak in the center and flares sharply outward at both ends.
