Description
The former schoolroom, dating from the mid-19th century, is constructed of red brick with a brick plinth and a Welsh slate roof. It features a simple Tudor style, highlighted by a complete set of cast-iron diamond-lattice windows set in limestone surrounds, which are recessed within brick frames. The front facing the road includes a projecting gabled porch that has a studded and battened plank door beneath a brick Tudor arch. There are single-light windows on the sides, and taller single-light windows on either side of the porch. The gable ends each have a 3-light window, with a single-light window in the attic, and the rear has two 3-light windows along with a slightly projecting stack that has been reduced to eaves level.
Inside, the space features an open hammer-beam roof and a studded and battened inner door leading to the porch. This schoolroom remains largely unaltered, retaining its original windows and interior, making it a rare example of its kind from this period. It also contributes to the group value with the adjacent Church of St. Peter.
