Description

Farmhouse. Dating from the 17th century, the front of the building was re-faced with brick in the early to mid-19th century, and it was later extended by one bay. The front is painted brick; the rear wall is of coursed ironstone; the roof is covered in Swithland slate, and there are brick end and ridge stacks. The original plan was for three rooms arranged around a central lobby, but it has since been extended to a four-room plan. It has two storeys and a four-window front. A central door has a partially glazed panel and a segmental arch above. The ground floor has three-light casement windows, except for a two-light casement on the far right. All the ground floor windows have segmental arches. The first floor has three-light casements with a sliding central light, and a two-light casement on the far right which both have wooden lintels. The eaves are made of dentil brick. A bay was added to the right-hand side. Inside, there are stop-chamfered spine beams and an inglenook with a chamfered bressumer.
