Description

Hecedeck Cottage is a house dating to 1762, with extensions and alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with a 20th-century concrete tile roof and brick end and ridge stacks. The original design was a three-unit plan, now extended by two bays to the left, in two separate building phases. The original part of the house has a central front door dating from the late 18th or early 19th century, featuring six panels, side lights, a fanlight, and a cornice with bracket supports. A 19th-century timber canted bay window is located to the right, whilst other ground and first-floor windows are 20th-century sashes with brick lintels. A gabled dormer window sits above, with a painted datestone below, inscribed ‘M/W.E./1762’. To the left is a two-storey, single-window section, and further to the left a two-storey, single-window extension with a hipped roof, both built of brick. A single-storey wing, likely an outbuilding, is located to the right, with a pantile roof composed of both brick and cob. The interior contains chamfered spine beams.
