Description
Elizabeth Cottages is a row of three cottages dating from the 17th and 18th centuries, with 20th-century alterations. They are timber-framed with brick infill, and No. 3 has been refronted in brick. The cottages have a partial stone plinth and a thatched roof featuring one gable stack and two ridge stacks, and they are two storeys high.
The west front consists of six bays of square framing with braces, with three bays of brick on the right. Starting from the left, No. 1 has three bays, a doorway with a thatched canopy, and a 20th-century plank door. To the right, there is a 20th-century three-light casement window with a flat arch. Above it, there is a similar window, and to the left, a panel reveals exposed wattle and daub. Attached to the left is a 20th-century single-storey extension made of brick with a plain tiled roof.
No. 2 also has three bays, featuring a doorway with a thatched canopy and a six-panel door. To the left, there is a three-light casement window with a flat arch, and above it, there is a similar window.
No. 3, which also has three bays, includes a doorway with a thatched canopy and a four-panel door. To the left, there is a two-light casement window with a cambered arch, and to the right, a three-light casement window with a flat arch. Above, there are two three-light casement windows, both with flat arches. Attached to the right is a 20th-century single-storey extension made of brick with a slate roof.
Inside, No. 1 features exposed main beams and joists with stops, while No. 2 is reported to have similar beams and joists.
