Description

Shawell Grange is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with later additions and alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is constructed of brick, largely rendered with a modern finish, and has a hipped roof covered in plain tiles. A lateral stack is positioned to the right side, and a larger stack rises from the roof of a rear range. The house is arranged in an L-shape, with a three-bay east front. The central doorway has a 19th-century door, divided into four panels with glazed upper sections, and is sheltered by a cambered brick arch. To either side of the doorway are single, three-light mullion and transom casement windows, also with cambered arches. Above the left-hand window is a smaller three-light casement, and above the right-hand window is another casement. All windows on the east front are 19th-century casements.
