Description

Carr Bridge is a small bridge dated 1770 and 1793, constructed from coursed squared stone and red brick. It features a single segmental brick arch that springs from a stone base with splayed sides. The narrow pathway is partly cobbled. One side of the bridge has a keystone inscribed with 'A.B.' over the years 1770 and 1793. The initials likely refer to Andrew Burnaby of nearby Baggrave Hall, although the bridge is believed to have been built for a Vicar of Lowesby named Carr, facilitating the hunt's crossing of Queniborough Brook, which may explain the two dates. The bridge is located to the west of Carr Bridge Spinney, near a guidepost on the Baggrave-Lowesby footpath.
