Description
The stables at Lowesby Hall are a stable block built in the late 18th century or early 19th century. Constructed from brick and ironstone rubble, the building features a Swithland slate roof and is two storeys high. The northeast front has seven bays arranged in a 2-3-2 pattern, with the central section highlighted by a pedimented gable that contains a doorway set in a round arched recess. Each floor has 16-light sash windows with cambered brick heads, and above each window is a small oculus. The building also has a wooden eaves cornice, a clock in the pediment, and a wooden cupola on top.
The southwest elevation is made of coursed ironstone rubble and has a Swithland slate roof. It is also two storeys tall but has been altered by the addition of three modern garage doors on the left and one on the right, above which an original segmental archway remains. In the centre, there is a round arched doorway with a fanlight set in a squared frame of thin tiles, and to its right is a single 2-light sash window. The upper windows are also 2-light sashes.
