Description

This is a row of houses located on Church Street, Lutterworth. The core of the building dates to the late 16th century and was restored in the later 20th century. The construction is timber-framed with straight braces, and brick infilling, all painted. The roofs are tiled, with ridge cresting on the left side, and the building has ridge stacks on both the left and right. Two gabled dormers are visible on the left side of the roof. The houses are two storeys high, with an attic on the left, and feature a continuously jettied first floor, supported by brackets and some curved braces to the bressumer. The first floor has an irregular arrangement of casement windows. On the ground floor, there are four canted bay windows, three modern wooden doorcases, and boarded doors. An entrance to No. 1 Church Gate is located in the east end wall. The timber frame preserves various carpenter's marks. The building operated as the Coach and Horses Public House from around 1820 until 1971.
