Description

Goodacre Cottages is a row of eight almshouses built in 1832 for Sarah Bowyer, following a bequest from Lucy Goodacre. The cottages are constructed of red brick and feature a 20th-century concrete tile roof with four square brick ridge stacks. They are two stories high and have eight windows in total. Each cottage on the ground floor has an added lean-to porch, arranged in a pattern of 1:2:1:1:2:1, with a single light window at the front and a glazed door on the side. The central opening includes a segment-headed passage doorway with a plank door, above which is a slate plaque that commemorates the bequest. Each floor has eight 2-light casement windows with segment heads.
