Description
Manor Farmhouse is a mid-18th century farmhouse with later alterations. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, topped with a steep, hipped plain tiled roof. A tall brick stack is located behind the ridge to the right, and a second stack is situated on the rear wing. The farmhouse comprises a main range with a service wing to the rear. The front facade has two and a half storeys and a regular three-window arrangement. It features 6, 8, and 16-pane hornless sash windows, each with a plastered flat arch and keyblock. A central panelled door, with an overlight above, provides entrance. The left return is rendered and contains a 12-pane hornless sash window to the ground floor. The right return has some sash windows, with others being blocked. The rear wing features casement windows.
The interior retains good contemporary joinery, including panelled cupboards, one of which has fluted pilaster surrounds and a dentil cornice. There is an open-well staircase leading from the ground floor to the attic, characterized by two turned balusters to each tread and a ramped rail. Moulded ceiling beams are also present. Evidence suggests that there was once an inglenook fireplace, now blocked.
