Description

Mill Farmhouse is an 18th-century building that was constructed in two phases and later extended and re-roofed in the 19th century. It is made of red brick with dark headers and features a Welsh slate gambrel roof. The house is tall, with two storeys and an attic, and consists of four bays. The left-hand bays may be a slightly later addition, featuring a blocked cambered headed window or doorway on the ground floor, with a 3-light casement window above.

The doorway is centrally located in the right-hand section, with a 2-light casement window to its left that cuts through a small section of ironstone walling, and another 2-light casement window to its right, which is set within a wider blank archway with a cambered head. Above, there are four tall 3-light casement windows, each with cambered brick heads. The ground floor of the gable wall includes ironstone. The original pitched roof line is still visible in both gables, while the current gambrel roof is a modification from the 19th century and includes four 2-light dormer windows.

There is a sundial inscribed with "redeem the time" at first floor level, and an unmoulded projecting brick eaves cornice is present in the left-hand bay only. The building has gable and axial stacks, and there is a 19th-century wing at the rear.
