Description
No. 80 Main Street is a house that dates largely from the 17th century, although the gable facing the street was refronted in the 18th century. The house features a timber frame constructed in square panels with small scantling timber, set on a brick plinth that lacks a sill beam and has a middle rail. The panels are infilled with brick, and the roof is thatched. The front elevation has two small new windows. The brick front gable wall includes a plinth and coping, with a doorway on the left that has glazed upper panels in a moulded wood case. To the right, there is a new bay window that protrudes from an older opening with a cambered brick head. Above this, there is a 2-light horizontally sliding sash window. The house has gable end stacks. There is also a wing parallel to the street, built in the 18th century, which is made of brick with a thatched roof and an axial stack. This wing has two bays, with renewed ground floor windows and upper horizontally sliding sash windows.
