Description
This is a row of five estate cottages, dated 1862. They are constructed of brick with a tiled roof featuring decorative fish scale bands. The cottages are arranged symmetrically as a picturesque Tudor-Gothic group. The design incorporates two storeys and seven bays, with projecting gables on the outer sides and in the centre. The central gable has a three-light casement window on the ground floor, topped by a stilted yellow brick arch with a stone key. Above is a two-light oriel window. The outer gables each feature a two-light casement window on both floors. Each gable has tumbled brickwork and a stone shield in the apex; the outer shields are blank, while the central shield records the date with the initials WAP. The bays between the gables have inner doorways recessed behind an outer archway, itself defined by a stilted yellow brick arch and keystone. Each of these bays also has two two-light casement windows on each floor. All windows have yellow brick heads. Small, steep gablets are positioned over the first-floor windows. The building includes a yellow brick eaves cornice and string course, as well as clustered, moulded brick axial stacks.
