Description
White Lodge in Garendon Park is a lodge that may date back to the 17th century but was remodeled in the early 19th century. It is constructed of stone and has a stucco finish. The building features a hipped roof made of Swithland slate and has two ridge stacks, along with deep eaves. It is two stories tall and has three bays. The south front is rusticated and is distinguished by giant engaged Doric columns that support a pediment above the large central double doors, which have a radiating fanlight above and are accessed by seven steps. On either side of the doors are sash windows. The rear (north) front includes two low doorways with plain architraves and plank doors, as well as two-light horizontally-sliding sash windows, one of which on the ground floor still has hooks for shutters. The lodge was remodeled to serve as an eye-catcher from Ashby Road.
